WANTED: Good looking, Golfing (rich…) guy who wants to emigrate with me to New Zealand
Posted by Rosely under General , PlacesComments Off
Yeah, I’m in love!!!
Oh, and getting married!
I did get a marriage proposal of this guy I knew for 5 minutes. But I said yes, seeing as how he was taller then I and so I can wear high heels next to him, so that’s good. It’s all you want in a guy, right?
He was pretty goodlooking too. LOL
Ehm… where was I? (more…)

OMG OMG OMG!!!
Thursday the 4th Bernadette and I went Canyoning!! This is soooo extremely cool!!
But I should start from the beginning… lol
HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!!
On the 31st I picked up Bernadette from the airport! It was so good seeing her again! ![]()
We drove all the way to Pahia (with a pittstop at Ton’s to shower and eat lunch).
It was my first time driving so far on the left, I’ve driven on the left a few times before, but this was like allll the way and with someone next to me that wasn’t able to help me (seeing as how she just had had a 36 hour trip
)
Eitherway, in Pahia we celebrated new years! On the beach for fireworks, and after that we danced untill 3 am (big applause for Bernadette to keep it up so long after her exhausting travel) and had loads of fun!!
(lol this guy that was married wanted to take me home… hmmmm right… the good girl in me said no
)
The next day we took the car to a Maori reserve, saw some cutural stuff (i.e. a war canoe and a meeting house) and then took a 10 kilometer walk to waterfalls… yeah.. that was fun and exhausting!
Pictures here
Then on the 2nd we went on a trip to see dolphins. Unfortunately I was so clever to forget my camera charger at Tons and of course the battery died when we were seeing all the dolphins… *rolleyes*
However it was a lot of fun! So many dolphins, and some babies!
Too bad we couldn’t swim with them, it’s forbidden when they have babies to swim with them.. o well, the water was only 17 degrees… lol
Then the third day we made a trip to see the most of northland, from Pahia to mudpools (pictures) and then to the biggest tree you’ll ever see (which was so much bigger in real life then you can see on the pictures) and then to the Kai Iwi Lakes. For a bit of relaxing and tanning ![]()
The day ended with a look at the Whangarei Waterfalls and then a great dinner at Tons, where we also spend the night!
Then on thursday it was the big day!
Canyoning!
The first part was less fun though.. we had to climb the whole mountain, with our wetsuits on and that was tough!
Then we jumped in the pool from about 4 meters high :s (I’m no hero, but I did it) And then came the first 15 meters abseil…
The first part is scary, but once you’re over the edge, it’s soooo cool! I totally loved it!!
The second was only small (8 meters or so) but then the thirds was 50 meters!! (See that picture in the gallery). Bernadette and I made pictures with a disposal waterproof camera too, but we’ll have to develop them later.
After the 50 meters abseil, we got a little lunch and moved on the the 4th abseil, which was right in a waterfall (see that very fancy picture of me… woo I look good there huh *rolleyes*)
This one was pretty difficult because of the water falling down on you with such a force. But it was pretty cool.
Unfortunately that was the last abseil
It wasn’t over, but no more abseils. Now we just went further down by jumping, climbing and walking through the creek/river.
This one jump was too scary, it was like 5,5 meters high and then you had to jump in between 2 rocks! There was only 1 meter space down there… I passed, walked down 1 meter, still had a 4 meter jump but then in open water… no rocks thank you!
All in all this was an AMAZING day! I totally loved it! I expected to be very scared, but after the first bit I was totally over my fears and just loved it immensely!
In the afternoon we drove to the Coromandel bay. A little town called Thames where we stayed in a nice and quiet hostel.
There were two nice Belgium guys there who we socialized with. It’s so funny how they speak, but for them it’s funny how we speak. Either way, we learned some new Belgium words and laughed so much.
The only thing that worried me a bit was one of them saying how Dutch people are so rude… :s
To foreigners we apparently seem to be screaming, rude and demanding people… Now the Belgiums are very soft and we’re usually pretty direct, but still… I don’t wanna come to a country and have people thinking I’m rude!
(I know I can be very forward and also in discussions… lol
Oh like there was this Israelian guy who had just been in the army for 6 years. He stated how he liked the American president Bush…
He was in this discussion about it and I joined. Then when he had given his 10 arguments and I wanted to give mine, he abruptly stopped the discussion, saying that he doesn’t want to talk about it anymore!
yeah.. that gets me aggressive!
Then they all looked at me, like I was doing it wrong for discussing with this poor boy that just came out of the Israelian army… right…
We spend a day doing not so much, because we’ve been so busy in the first 5 days, and well, Bernadette needs some holiday too!
So I edited some pictures and we tried to go for some shopping. I bought a small Tripod!! Am soooo happy with my new toy!
(What has a woman in her handbag, Bernadette said. Well a camera, tripod…
)
The next day we went to Cathedral Cove and the Hot Water Beach.
The walk to the Cathedral Cove was pretty heavy, up and down hill the whole time and pretty steep!
It was totally worth it though! So beautiful there! Too bad for all the people sitting in the cove! Dumping there towels and bags at the opening! It’s criminal! I think it should be forbidden!
But I think I took some pretty pictures. Also from Gemstone bay. There you could go snorkeling, except for we had no gear.
After sunbathing for about an hour and a half, we drove to Hot Water Beach. You have to dig a hole there and then sit in it. Well, it was crowded! Everybody had already digged their holes and the water was already coming up the beach again.
So we felt like it was just too touristic and we just walked through some of those holes people had already digged. This one you see me standing in on the last picture was pretty warm. There was one next to it that was hot, it’s a nice phenomenon, just too bad that it’s soooo crowded. (See the picture before the last).
This evening we arrived in Tauranga, where we had a nice Pizza ![]()
The hostel there was crap! So we moved the next night to another one. We spend the day relaxing, buying shoes (yes I’ve now bought 5 pairs in the last 2 weeks! It’s insane I know, but I never had a good shoe collection and then I saw Line’s and was too jealous!)
In the afternoon we went to the salt water hot pools. These were like swimmingpools, with clorine, but hot from the springs. It was so relaxing, so lovely.
Then on the 8th we drove to Lake McLaren, with the McLaren falls and had a picnic there.
My new toy (the tripod) came in handy when I wanted to take a picture of a creek. I’ve been trying to take a good picture like this for a while now and this is the first time it really worked!
I went into the creek (my feet were freezing!) and Bernadette helped me. She handed me my tripod and then my camera. I installed it all nice and pretty stable and then took the picture. People who walked by looked at me like I was crazy, but hey! Everything for a good picture huh! ![]()
The same with the waterfall photo’s
They’re just so much better with a tripod. I’m really happy with it!
Now we’re in Rotorua. We were really happy about having a twin room, only the two of us. But then it turned out to be a night from hell. We barely slept because we had very loud people above us, and the toilets next to us ![]()
Bernadette is exhausted and I’m pretty tired myself. So we changed rooms and then went for a roadtrip to some lakes and stuff here. But it’s raining and depressing. We’ll go to some other hot pools later today, but first we need some rest again… hey, it’s a holiday too! lol
Tomorrow we’ll go to see some very pretty geishers, a champagne pool (by colour) and other hot thermal springs. We won’t be able to swim in them though, they’re too hot. Eitherway it’s beautiful, hopefully the weather will be beautiful again as well.
Love, Rosely

Tomorrow Morning Bernadette will arrive in Auckland!
I’ve arranged that I get a ride to Auckland, then I need to take a bus to the airport. Hopefully I’ll be there at the same time as she will. Then we’ll go to rent the car and drive up north to Pahia.
The last days I’ve been with Ton, my grandmothers best friend, who lives in New Zealand. She lives in this cute little village, at the beach. Her house has the livingroom upstairs, and so it’s nice with a good view and light and warm.
The view is amazing! Breathtaking! There’s this bay and mountains in the back, the ocean on the right, and there’s loads of birds in the garden. I’m standing on the veranda and completely understand why she doesn’t come back to Holland. This is amazing!
Today I’ve been driving
.
It went really well. Even though the kiwi’s are insane drivers! The hardest thing is just the rule that the right has the way. Even though we drive on the left. It’s weird, unlogic and sometims appears to be quite dangerous.
But well, I’ll manage
Have to, since tomorrow I’ll drive all the way to Pahia!
Last night btw I went out with people I’ve never met before.
Lucretia, an Argentinan lady, used to live at Tons house when she just immigrated to New Zealand. Her 36st birthday is coming up and so we had a barbie (bbq).
THere were about 12 people from 22-40 something. It was fun!
I’ll post pictures when I can! ![]()
But I don’t know when that ‘ll be since I’m gonna travel with Bernadette around New Zealand now, and they are a bit behind…. lol
Anyway, I wish you all loads of love and hugs!
Let 2007 be a loving, hugging and sweet year that makes all our dreams and happiness whishes come true!

I’ve decided that I’m actually only 22.
It’s my real age and I mean it.
See all this time during traveling people ask me my age and think I’m 21 or 22. Then when I say 27 they all react in complete amazement. One shouted out: “HOLY FUCK!”, others say: “Huh? Really?”
And I’ve decided that’s a good thing. I’m 22.
I’m young, energetic, spontanious, self confident, independent and according to someone… ‘electric’… hihi
Another thing… I never wanna go back home again.
Travelling is addictive, very addictive! And I don’t think I’ve been this happy and felt this good about myself in years! So naturally I wanna continue this state of happiness…
Now I do know that I need to go back way too soon, but then only a week or so later I’ll go to Los Angeles again. And after that I’ll just save up again and will leave NL when I can.
Maybe I can move back in with my parents and save me the costs of my flat? ![]()
hihi

We had a very good Christmas eve! I celebrated it with Line, Dane and his family.
It’s so sweet and warm how they welcome me here! It’s really really amazing.
Line & Dane got me such a sweet and beautiful golden neckless with a heart! It’s really beautiful, I’ll show a picture soon.
And Trine got me a very beautiful silver bracelet! It’s so funny cause it goes round and that’s exactly what I always love! So she chose the exact right present for me, isn’t that crazy?! *heart*
I feel so warm and happy! It’s really amazing!
Although I do miss my family now, you know, christmas and all…
BUT I did see my cousin! Coen is in Sydney at the moment and so we had dinner in Darling Harbour the day before yesterday! It was so much fun! So good to see family here!!

OMG! I had never expected 2 weeks ago, that I would actually be so sad to leave Tully!
Loads has happened there, not all will go in here, lol. But all in all the last week was amazing.
I ended up staying untill wednesday evening, instead of sunday.
That all because I was allowed to drive the tractor for most of the days. I had to share it with Anna on monday, but on Tuesday we both were allowed to drive the whole day and on wednesday I was driving all day as well. (Anna had already left
)
I was driving every day with Jon and Dave, 2 local boys that picked the banana’s. Pictures will follow.
Dave is a guy that tries to be an asshole, but is actually very nice. We had fun trying to be the biggest smart ass ![]()
Jon is a really sweet guy, with his motto: It’s nice to be nice. LOL ![]()
We turned out to be both taurussus, something we only found out on the last day, surprising that we got along so great! (Normally taurusses are too stubborn
) But we really had a great time.
When I was driving the tractor the last couple of days, I felt so inmensly happy. There I was, in the hot sun, looking out on rainforest and mountains, driving through a banana plantage, being in Australia, the other side of the world, with two nice guys. How much better can life get?
And then there were Anna and Samantha (Sam), my two ‘best friends’ in Tully! We are so most definately going to meet again when we’re back in Europe. They are amazing! We connected so well, had so much fun together and helped eachother through all that was going on. It was amazing!
And now I’m back in Cairns, just did my christmas shopping and will take the plane back to Sydney in a few hours. Yesterday evening when I arrived here I was really sad. Missing my friends in Tully, and just everything there! So weird, cause it’s the weirdest little town ever! And I could never live there, but it’s just the people that were there that made it so good.
But there are still some things to look forward to. I’m going back to Sydney tonight and will stay at Wendy & Peter’s place, so that’s really really good. Plus I’ll see Line and Trine again tomorrow!!
And then after Christmas I’m going to New Zealand and will see my best friend in just over a week!! How good is that?!
Basically it’s just the first time that I really don’t wanna go home anymore.
Travelling is addictive, you meet so many new people, nice people. And see places and do nice things. It’s just the best feeling in the world.

I hate them in the morning at 6.30, when I’d rather be in bed
I hate them at noon, by when I’m wishing to be dead
I hate them when I split them, for my shoulders and all is soar
I hate them when I see them, for I can absolutely take no more!
So… the last 1,5 weeks I’ve been working on a banana farm.
GOD F*cking Dammit! (sorry, no offense) This is the most terrible job in the world!!!!
To think that there are ladies working there that have been packing banana’s for 20 years!
I’m appreciating my job back home soooo much more these days. Writing, interviewing, photographing…
This year we might go to New York!!! And at the end of feb I’m joining my dad again to L.A.
but right now… it’s banana’s… untill friday when I’ll say to Greg (the boss) “Fuck the banana’s”
He’s very nice and funny though.
And he promised me that I can drive the tractor tomorrow! So then I’ll be driving through the banana trees, and the guys will be picking them.
Since sunday, a week and a half ago, I’ve been staying in a hostel in Tully. A tiny tiny town, in the middle of nowhere. There are 3 pubs though. And last weekend we spend dancing our asses of! God how we needed that after a boooooooooring week with banana’s!
I had a lot of fun
The people in the hostel are really really nice.
I’ve got a Dutch roomy! Samantha. With whom I connect really well. So that’s really cool.
We’re in a room for three, but it’s just the two of us
The days are long, but I’ll live. And on Sunday I’m going back to Cairns. Might be joining Steve in his caravan, nice and cheap ![]()
Looking sooooo forward to going back to Sydney next thursday, the 21.
I’ll see Line again, and will stay at Wendy and Peters for Christmas!
Plus Trine will be there too, so it will be fun fun fun!
But first 3 more days of banana’s… and then Cairns and christmas shopping…
Pictures will follow in the gallery, when I’m back in Sydney I think.
That is if the sweet and lovely Line won’t mind me uploading
Oh I might also add some when i’m back in Cairns, I’ll be able to go online with my laptop then
Love and kisses!!!
Sun 26 Nov 2006
This morning we arrived in Cairns!
Jeeezzz it’s hot here!
I’ve totally lost track of days btw, so I went to the jobdesks here, and realised they were closed cause it’s sunday, only when I got there… yeah.. silly me.
But I’ve left my resume at some shops, at some bars and will tomorrow go to the jobdesks.
The day after tomorrow Trine and I want to make a last trip together, to the Rainforest and beach: Cape Tribulation. It’s going to be fabulous! A 2 day trip for only 125 dollars. And it’s (finally) going to be a place where the rainforest borders the beach, and the reef as well!
After that I hope to be able to start working immediately… so keep your fingers crossed for me.
We’re currently staying in a very nice hostel: Serpent is the name. And it’s clean! and the matras is something I can really call a matras! LOL
Eitherway, all is pretty nice. But I’m gonna miss Trine soon as she will travel on to Darwin when I start working…
I’ve installed a gallery, will make a layout soon and then upload my photo’s there. Will be so much easier!
